This new fresh Dub-Electro duo have sprung from their Cape Town origins.  Nic Gaud and Simon Ackerman are Kings Down South. Professional musician, Nic Gaud, singer/songwriter frontman/guitarist of the extremely well-established 7th Son, has performed headlining slots at every major music festival in South Africa, toured Germany, and ticks the radio play list.  He is also guitarist of the loyally followed super-group Goodnight Wembley.

Simon Ackerman is an accomplished saxophonist, and brings his edge to other acts too:  7th Son, and Cape Town’s Grassy Spark.

Together they boast 15+years of music and performing experience. Simon could be accused of seduction with his delivery of the saxophone’s golden sound, while Nic’s vocals, aptly described as ‘inspirational in (their) tone and range’*, set your heart on fire. They launched their début video single, The Way You Move, on 24Nov14 - http://youtu.be/3ErGL8NWcms

Their début Album with its distinct Reggae flavour, launched at Mercury Live, Cape Town - 05 December 2014, stood them in good stead for their successful début tour of South Africa’s East Coast in December 2014.

They have predominantly taken to the stages of music festivals, in their infancy, and performed their début Live performance to cheering festival-goers, at Synergy Live 2014, and Wild Kei Fest 2014.

To kick off 2015, Kings Down South prove their versatility in their cover of Desmond and the Tutu’s Tearing Up (Big Guns), released by Red Bull Studios January 2015 -  “..linked up with upcoming band(s) Kings Down South … at Synergy Live in December 2014 … Kings Down South took (Desmond and the Tutu’s) Tearing Up (Big Guns) and covered and reproduced it as indie-electro tinged punk-funk ..”

Since then the band has been not stop on the road performing around the country promoting their debut album, which culminated with them headlining Splashy Fen Festival in KZN April 2015.

May 2015 has brought with it the release of their first radio single “Cant Stop”

The band is now set to hit the road again performing at STRAB festival in Mozambique at the end of May, before embarking on their first tour of Europe in June and July playing shows in France, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden before returning to South Africa to perform at Oppikoppi festival at the beginning of August.
